NRG-Coaching, PLLC is dedicated to optimizing the lives of individuals, families, and community groups through integrative health coaching, psychotherapy, and clinical social work services that promote holistic wellness of the mind, body, and spirit.
Greetings, my name is Natalie Gidney-Cole. I am a licensed clinical social worker, a Duke certified integrative health coach and the owner of NRG-Coaching, PLLC. With over 25 years of experience working with individuals, children, adolescents and families, I understand the importance of effective intervention in supporting sustainable change and overall well-being. I am passionate about helping others reach their point of self-actualization - which is a fancy way of saying, "living your best life, now."
I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and my Master's Degree in Social Work from Howard University in Washington, D.C. I am licensed by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board (C002946).
My interest in helping others self-actualize stems not only from counseling clients but my personal experiences managing my own health and stress. Directly after graduating from Howard University, I found myself in the doctors' office with a myriad of complaints, including abnormal cervical cells. None of the symptoms made sense to me. I was healthy and conscientious about diet and exercise.
Having completed a social work internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital afforded access to several medical libraries, where I spent hours researching causes and treatments for cervical cell abnormalities. I confess that eventually I was convinced I had cervical cancer. During a physician's appointment, I was well prepared as I explained to the doctor that the results of my research were concerning. The doctor stopped me. He issued a challange. I was told to stop researching and worrying, to manage reactions to stressful life events and follow medical advice. He believed my body would heal if given the right conditions. He was right!
I am not suggesting that the cure for illnesses and chronic diseases is to simply reduce stress. We need medical expertise. What scientific literature, my experiences, and the experiences of others has shown is stress often exacerbates chronic diseases and promotes emotional unrest. Moreover, changing habits and thought patterns is not easy. Working with a professional to make sustainable changes makes all of the difference.
NRG-Coaching uses innovative and research-based strategies to help clarify clients' vision of health, explore options, and take action to make changes that optimize wellness and promote the balance between the mind, body and spirit. Developing and following a sustainable plan of action is an important ingredient in living your best life now.
If you are searching for professional support in managing stress, following medical advice, adjusting to a life challenge or just want an accountability partner, we can help!
If you are seeking psychotherapy/counseling, we can help.
Peace and blessings to you, Natalie
MORE ON ME:
I am orginally from a suburban area outside of Cleveland, Ohio, where my family and I integrated not only the neighborhood but the schools in which I matriculated. Although my childhood experiences did not create a lack of friendships, I remember feeling an outsider as a result of the prejudice and discrimination I experienced first-hand. These experiences are some of my first memories of God's calling me into a vocation that helps others who themselves have experienced the "imposter syndrome."
I have one son, who is in school at North Carolina State University (GoPack!) and am an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
