DAD AND ME
Happy Father's Day to all the amazing DADS, surrogate dads, and healthy father figures who serve as a positive influence in the lives of their children and the children of others.  I often reflect on what a great blessing it is to have had a loving dad in my life.  My dad was not only loving, but he also served God, others and was committed to mom, me, my sister, extended family, friends, our church, and his pharmacy staff.  He was an incredibly doting grandfather to my son, Chris.

Dad was also industrious, organized, a leader, a visionary, a sports enthusiast (especially football - Go Browns), a car enthusiast, a sorta handyman, a protector, and so much more.  I know I am a better person because of Charles E. Gidney.

Fathers play an essential role in the development and well-being of their children, and their presence has numerous benefits.  Research shows that children who have involved fathers or father figures tend to have better outcomes in various aspects of their lives, including academic achievement, social skills, emotional regulation, and mental health.  Fathers who actively participate in their children's lives help them develop a sense of security, confidence, and self-esteem, which are crucial for overall growth and development.

Fathers also serve emotional support and guidance to their children, helping them navigate the challenges of life and providing a unique perspective on the world.  I remember a time in college, I called home to seek advice from my mom.  Mom wasn't at home, so my dad offered to listen.  I took a breath and shared the problems I was having with my roommate.  Now, he did not help me process or advise as my mother would have, as a matter of fact, within the conversation, I realized I just wanted to vent.  Dad, however, gave a pep talk and reminded me to focus on school.  That was fine.

Fathers provide their brand of emotional support and guidance as they help children navigate the challenges of life.  Theirs is a unique perspective which can help their offspring develop empathy, compassion, strength, and the understanding of different viewpoints.

So on FATHER'S DAY, let us celebrate all the amazing dads and father figures out there, who have made a positive impact on the lives of us all.  Your love, support, and dedication are truly appreciated and valued.
In memory of my dad: Charles E. Gidney = Thank you!
